Some people have excess skin and fat of the thighs.
People who have lost large amounts of weight often have hanging or loose skin in their thighs. This is especially true for
people who have had gastric bypass surgery and massive weight loss. A thigh lift can help
with these problems. During the procedure, excess skin and fat of the inner thighs are removed. This results in an improved
contour of the thighs. The procedure does create a scar, which is placed as inconspicuously as possible.
For some patients who have excess fat without
loose skin, liposuction can provide improved appearance with very small scars.
Sometimes liposuction is combined with a thigh lift. Successful liposuction requires the skin to contract or shrink
following surgery. The skin of the inner thighs is thin and thus does not have as much ability to contract as other
parts of the body, such as the outer thighs, following liposuction. During your consultation at Rodeo Drive Plastic Surgery,
your Beverly Hills plastic surgeon will advise you whether liposuction or a thigh lift
is best for you based on your body shape and type of skin.

The surgery is usually done as an outpatient under general
anesthesia administered by a physician anesthesiologist at our Beverly Hills plastic surgery center. There is usually very little
discomfort following the surgery because a long-term local anesthetic is administered during the procedure as part of our
minimal pain program. After the surgery, your plastic surgeon might advise you to wear special
elastic garments on your legs for a few weeks.
